Valerie McCloskey started her life long love affair with horses at the age of 3. She rode throughout her childhood often showing and training friends horses or helping others with problems. Her riding in the early years was mostly western pleasure and huntseat. As her riding developed, and she was able to ride with many great international instructors, her passion for Dressage grew. Her philosophies have always been that of teaching and training in the classical ways of horsemanship even as a youngster. As such, Valerie's teaching and training of both horse and rider closely follow the tenants' of the the great Walter Zettl.

Valerie continues to expand her knowledge and rides with International Dressage and Jumping instructors on a regular basis. Her jumping background and teaching mirrors that of George Morris as she has had the opportunity to train with one of George's protégé's on a regular basis. Valerie has also taken time to earn her Centered Riding and CHA Master Instructor/ACI credentials. Centered Riding is an integral part of her program. Valerie believes in the importance of cross training horses and riders; Dressage is a large part of the training for her jumpers and her dressage horses learn to jump to improve their athleticism and mental acuity.

Mitzi is an internationally acclaimed instructor and clinician, teaching throughout Europe and the United States. She currently holds CHA Master Instructor and Level IV Centered Riding credentials. WhisperWind is honored to have her guidance at various times throughout the year and assist with its summer camp and internship programs.

Jan is a Centered Riding and certified CHA instructor, Level 1 for English and Western riding disciplines.

Ashley has been competitively riding and showing since the age of 8 years old. She has successfully competed in dressage and jumping events throughout New York, and works extensively with national and internationally-acclaimed instructors. Ashley is currently a working student/apprentice, under supervision of WhisperWind's lead trainer, Val McCloskey.
